Why You Should Use Black Seeds in Your Daily Life as a Muslim
I take black seeds every day and I use them in certain homemade beauty products that I make for my skin. I love to use Prophetic remedies because you know they will work and you’ll get rewarded just for using it - such a winning combination, alhumdulillah!
Black seed, also known as Nigella sativa or black cumin, has been used for centuries in traditional medicine for its potential health benefits. Our beloved Prophet SAW mentioned:
Al-Bukhaari (5688) and Muslim (2215) narrated from Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that he heard the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) say concerning the black seed: “In it there is healing for every disease, except as-saam.” Ibn Shihaab said: As-saam is death.

Nowadays, all the non-Muslim herbalists, traditionalists, and naturopaths that I follow mention the benefits of black seeds and use them in their recipes, so it’s becoming popular even in the modern world.
Some of the potential benefits of black seed include:
1. Anti-inflammatory Properties
Black seed contains compounds like thymoquinone, which have demonstrated anti-inflammatory effects in studies. These properties may help reduce inflammation in the body and alleviate symptoms of conditions such as arthritis.
2. Antioxidant Activity
Black seed is rich in antioxidants, which can help protect the body against damage caused by free radicals. Antioxidants are believed to play a role in reducing the risk of chronic diseases like heart disease, cancer, and neurodegenerative disorders.
3. Immune System Support
Several studies suggest that black seed may have immune-enhancing properties. It may help stimulate immune cells and modulate immune responses, potentially supporting the body's defense against infections and diseases.
4. Respiratory Health
Black seed has been traditionally used for respiratory conditions such as asthma, bronchitis, and allergies. Some research suggests that its anti-inflammatory and bronchodilatory properties may help improve respiratory function and reduce symptoms.
5. Digestive Health
Black seed has been used traditionally to support digestive health and alleviate gastrointestinal issues such as bloating, gas, and stomach discomfort. It may also have antibacterial and antifungal properties that could be beneficial for maintaining a healthy gut.
6. Skin Health
The antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties of black seed may be beneficial for various skin conditions, including acne, eczema, and psoriasis. It may help reduce inflammation, soothe irritation, and promote healing.
7. Heart Health
Black seed has been studied for its potential cardiovascular benefits. It may help lower cholesterol levels, reduce blood pressure, and improve markers of heart health, such as triglyceride levels.
Personally, I try to instill most Prophetic remedies and Sunnah foods into my diet on a daily basis. If you would like to know about some of the Sunnah foods, you can get my free ebook as a subscriber.
I like to purchase high-quality, organic black seeds in bulk and give them to my family if they are sick and have any ailments. The one I buy you can find HERE and what I do is take a pinch every morning with some Celtic salt crystals, put it on my tongue, and drink it down like pills with some lukewarm water. You can read my article on the benefits of adding salt to your water for further reading.
